Spring Lake’s stellar season on the tennis court continued on Wednesday, with the Lakers breezing past non-conference foe Coopersville, 7-1.

The Broncos’ lone win came at No. 3 singles, as Spring Lake’s Amanda Twu couldn’t continue playing due to an injury. Lakers’ coach Cathy Layson highlighted a strong match by No. 2 player Roxane Stroebel, as the junior defeated the Broncos’ Catherine Croft, 6-2, 6-1.

“Roxane had her most dominant and confident match of the season against a very solid player,” Layson said.

Lenka Pousova won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 and Meryn Campbell overcame a difficult second set to win in three, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.

In doubles play, senior Madison Khem wasn’t at full strength after having her wisdom teeth pulled earlier in the week, but her teammate, Faith Lee, elevated her game in a 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 victory.

Stephanie Sabo and Jori Henderson prevailed at No. 2 doubles, 6-1, 7-5 (5); Audrie Dalman and Maddie Parker scored a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 3; and Rachel Briegel and Megan Oostinde won by a 7-5, 6-1 score at No. 4.
