Adam Clauss and Brittany Beeler were presented with the Len Fase Memorial Trophy during the Spring Lake High School athletic honors banquet on Thursday.

The Len Fase trophy is handed out annually to the top multi-sport male and female athlete.

Clauss enjoyed a memorable high school career in which he starred on the soccer field, the basketball court and the baseball diamond.

Soccer is his No. 1 sport — the one that earned him a scholarship at the University of Detroit. As a senior, Clauss led the Lakers to one of their best seasons in school history, in the process earning a spot on the All-State Dream Team as one of the top 15 players in the state, regardless of class.

On the basketball court, Clauss guided the Lakers to a Lakes Eight Conference title and the program’s first district championship since 1995.

Clauss was a standout baseball player as a freshman and a sophomore before reluctantly giving up the sport to focus on soccer.

Beeler will wrap up a stellar prep career on Saturday as she leads the Lakers’ girls track and field team into the Division 2 state meet at Forest Hills Eastern.

Beeler broke onto the scene with a sensational freshman season on the track, then began dominating on the cross country trails the following year, earning all-state honors for three straight years.

As a sophomore, she placed 23rd at the Division 2 cross country state meet.

She moved up to 13th at a junior, and was 12th as a senior, guiding the Lakers to a second-place finish.

During the winter months, Beeler was an outstanding point guard for the Lakers’ basketball team, where her leadership, ball handling ability and deadly outside shooting were on display.

Beeler will continue her running career in college at St. Mary’s College in South Bend, Ind.

Other awards handed out on Thursday were:

• Pete and Barney DeGraff Scholarship Award — Tori Tober and Emily Blahnik

• Tom Hickman Coaches Award — Presented to Greg Brown by Ryan and Connor Galligan

• Charlie Basett Scholarship — Jonah Yoshonis
