The Lakers and Lancers played to a 0-0 tie.

The game had close calls from both teams in the second half. Spring Lake’s Saebryn Peel hit the post on one shot, and had a goal called back for off-sides. Lakers’ goalie Ayna Gordon prevented a breakaway shot from the Lancers.

“I thought we were the better team,” said coach Jeremy Thelen. “We were inches away from scoring, we just couldn’t get it in.”

Spring Lake credited the defensive trio of Alex Prout, Courtney Dockery and Becca Boven for helping shutout Stevensville-Lakeshore.

“They played really well together in the back,” Thelen said. “They’ve played a lot together and it showed, we’re very organized in our defense.”

Junior Varsity: Spring Lake won, 4-0. Reiko Johnson found the back of the net three times, while Mairead Cooper added a goal.
