Greer out as GH boys lacrosse coach

The coach, who took the Buccaneers to a Division 1 regional final this season, said that he was notified of the decision at his end-of-the-year review with interim athletic director Ron Allen.
Greer said that Allen cited a failure to perform the administrative parts of the job, and complaints brought up by a group of parents.
“I don't want it to seem like I was unflawed at Grand Haven, there are definitely things I could have done,” Greer said. “(But) there was a definitely an agenda by a small group of parents to have me dismissed. The majority did not want me dismissed.”
He declined to go into detail about what the parents said or who they were.
“I want to leave Grand Haven gracefully and not get in a ‘he said, she said’ thing and have it more bitter than it is,” Greer said.
Greer’s contract was also not renewed at his previous stop, Grand Valley State University, in 2010. The coach said a vocal minority was also at the heart of that decision, which came after he was named 2010 CCLA Division 2 Coach of the Year.
Allen declined to comment on the nature of Grand Haven’s decision not to renew Greer, including whether a contingent of parents were behind it.
“I can say, first of all, it would not be our practice to talk about personnel matters. That's something I'll put out front,” Allen said. “I will say, we do have a current opening for our boys varsity lacrosse position.
“The one thing l’ll say about Murle is, myself included, that we as an athletic office appreciate what he's done for the program for Grand Haven in the last four years. We do wish him well and luck in moving forward.”
