The Fruitport volleyball squad picked up a big O-K Black Conference win Tuesday, as they knocked off crosstown rival Mona Shores, 3-1.

Fruitport took Set 1 (26-24) and Set 2 (25-11), but the host Sailors took Set 3 (25-21), before the Trojans ended the match at Set 4 with a 25-18 win.

The Trojan offense was lead by Kylie Oberlin and Jordyn Carlyle with 12 kills each, while Oberlin also chipped in five big blocks against the Sailors.

Rachel Paulsen continued to balance out the offense with 10 kills, and helped the Trojans’ defense with 17 digs. Trinity Busscher lead the Trojans with 23 digs and Chloe Kern chipped in 16 more.

“It was a great team effort tonight,” said Fruitport head coach Nicole Bayle. “We have been working all week on closing out games and sustaining intensity until the end of the match, and I felt like we did a great job of that tonight."

Fruitport is now 15-8-2 overall and 4-1 in the O-K Black Conference. The Trojans will compete at Grand Rapids Christian on Saturday in a power league tournament.
