A winter weather advisory is in effect for Ottawa County from 10 a.m. Thursday to 1 p.m. Friday.

The National Weather Service office in Grand Rapids said lake-effect snow is expected during that time. Total snow accumulations of 1-3 inches are expected.

Snow showers will develop Thursday and continue into Friday morning. The greatest accumulations will be confined to within about 30 miles of Lake Michigan.

Winds gusting as high as 30 mph will cause patchy blowing and drifting snow.

Plan on slippery road conditions, including during the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes. Be prepared for reduced visibilities at times.
