5. Let's see how the Obama sycophants try to spin this one. History should regard Obama with the likes of Nixon, although it seems Obama is outdoing him.

Did you know that by 1988, when Ronald Reagan's presidency came to an end, there were more members of his administration in the 1% wealthiest category than in recent previous administrations, and that over 100 members of his administration faced criminal indictments, mostly for corruption?

Tri-cities realist

Did you see that I compared Obama to Nixon based upon what was published by some non "right wing" publications?

And if you want to compare individuals associated with past Presidents who have either pled guilty or been convicted (rather than just indicted, which of course is just an accusation), please look at Bill Clinton, and get back to me.

Have fun!

Lanivan

The presidency of Ronald Reagan in the United States was marked by multiple scandals, resulting in the investigation, indictment, or conviction of over 138 administration officials, the largest number for any US president.[1] WIKI

And I commend you for your tasteful choice in links - I did notice and appreciated it immediately.

Tri-cities realist

So now you've moved from Bush to Reagan, and still not a peep about Obama.

And it looks as though Clinton has Reagan beat in the number of convictions or guilty pleas. For a sordid jaunt down memory lane, perhaps this will refresh your memory of the Clinton years. http://prorev.com/legacy.htm Ah the good old days!

So how about we focus on today, and Obama's bogus claim of the most transparent administration in history?

Lanivan

This is really interesting. Note Reagan's list.

"This list consists of American politicians convicted of crimes either committed or prosecuted while holding office in the federal government. It includes politicians who were convicted or pleaded guilty in a court of law; and does not include politicians involved in unprosecuted scandals (which may or may not have been illegal in nature), or politicians who have only been arrested or indicted. The list also does not include crimes which occur outside the politician’s tenure unless they specifically stem from acts while they were in office.

Although the convicted politicians are arranged by presidential terms starting with the most recent, many of the crimes have little or no connection to who is President." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lis...

As for the transparency issue, Obama has come under scathing attacks by Democrats and Republicans alike, with many right wingers saying his admin is the worst of any admin in the history of the world. Vlad's comments mostly dwell on how Obama is the worst lawless liar of all time. Such extremist, highly charged statements tend to have the opposite effect on me - it becomes all emotional naysaying without regard to historical fact or comparison. I am largely ambivalent on the subject: I don't like it one bit, but am pragmatic enough to realize what a dangerous world we live in; I also realize that a lack of transparency is troubling not only in the executive branch, but also the congressional and judicial, as well, and that political cover is very often the reason for the lack of transparency.

BENGHAZI WAS SO LONG AGO!!!!!

Let's talk about Reagan.

Lanivan

"Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it". Although in the case of BENGHAZI, the GOP are just making it up as they go along, for no other reason than because they can, and it brings in the $$$ like no other.

But you are right! Let's talk about KARACHI!

My sweet, pretty little "blessed" mother would put up with your guff for about two minutes before she'd make sure you were on the straight and narrow, let me tell you a thing or two, Mr. WiseGuy.

BENGHAZI MATTERS - http://youtu.be/dKsiDV1LuJA

Lanivan

Of course it "matters" - it all "matters". It just "matters" more to some than to others. For example, what has the State Dept done to address the recommendations that came out of the independent review panel?

1. Sending dozens of additional diplomatic security agents to high-threat embassies.

2. Installing millions of dollars of advanced fire-survival gear and surveillance cameras in those diplomatic posts.

3. Improving training for employees headed to the riskiest missions.

4. Racing to fulfill the 29 recommendations made by the panel as threats against United States Embassies in Egypt, Yemen and other hazardous places have sharply increased in recent months.

What has the Republican House done to address the recommendations, the panel of which was led by the veteran diplomat Thomas R. Pickering, to ensure the safety and well-being of our foreign embassy personnel?

1. *All have come under attack from House Republicans* who have seized on the Benghazi issue. But yet they have been able to oversee the following: Investigations by the independent Accountability Review Board, several congressional committees, four House panels and the Senate Intelligence Committee.

You see ~~~ Benghazi is such a dam fine cash cow for the right wingers.

#6. Is it any wonder that our teenagers suffer from anxiety issues when there is, on average, (1) school shooting every week, most often by unhinged, right-wing extremist oriented, young white males? When police officers become targets of those types as well?

Yet right-wingers extremists want us to be afraid, very afraid, of immigration, and Grandma collecting Social Security.

Harry Kovaire

I was wondering how in the world you linked "teenage texting and driving" with (imaginary) unhinged, right-wing, extremist shooters.

Then I read today's DailyKos.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/20...

I should have known (and just went there first to read your post).

Lanivan

Mark Fiore for President 2016!

Poor Jered and Amanda Miller....it appears their deaths will have been in vain.....

newsblogger

Just to clarify, the most recent school shooting was done by Elliot Rodger's who was half Asian. These kids who are doing this all seem to have one thing in common. Liberal elite parents.

Lanivan

You'll note I said "most often". Most of the reports I've read about these very troubled young men is that, through social media and what they surround themselves with, they demonstrate an extreme right-wing attitude, coupled with feelings of alienation and rejection, and a need for attention. I question your statement that starts, "...all seem to have one thing in common". Please support with facts.

13. Lani this is a must read - a potential business opportunity for you:

Lanivan

I must say, you've certainly got an eye for the opportunities! This sounds very exciting, especially since I quit running decades ago and switched to (s)trolling. Yes - I'd consider starting yet another business at a time when I really just want to be left alone with my kayak out in some insect-infested bayou. But anything for my pal, Barry S.

Lanivan

Oh, I gotta get this! (Apparently, so do 851 other gals who wrote reviews - geez).

Now, watch - The Bee will get his proboscis out of joint,,,,,bzzzzz~~~~~~~
