#5. "Though the system's troubles have faded from the headlines since the problem-plagued launch last October, a report from the health department inspector general provided the first independent look at widespread issues the government is having effectively fact-checking the information applicants are putting in the system.

According to the report, the administration was unable to resolve 2.6 million so-called "inconsistencies" out of a total of 2.9 million such problems from October through December 2013.

""This report is one more example of just how flawed the president's health care law is," Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said in a statement. "Whatever one's opinion of ObamaCare, the American public deserves to know that their tax dollars are allocated appropriately and that public officials take their responsibility to accurately and faithfully apply the laws enacted by Congress seriously." http://www.foxnews.com/politics/...

11. MEDICAL STAFF WARNED: KEEP YOUR MOUTHS SHUT ABOUT ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS OR FACE ARREST.

“When they found out the kids had scabies, the charge nurse was adamant – ‘Don’t mention that. Don’t say scabies,’” the nurse recounted. “But everybody knew they had scabies. Some of the workers were very concerned about touching things and picking things up. They asked if they should be concerned, but they were told don’t worry about it.”

The nurse said the lice issue was epidemic – but everything was kept “hush-hush.”

“You could see the bugs crawling through their hair,” she said. “After we would rinse out their hair, the sink would be loaded with black bugs.”

The nurse told me she became especially alarmed because their files indicated the children had been transported to Lackland on domestic charter buses and airplanes.

“That’s what alerted me,” she said. “Oh, my God. They’re flying these kids around. Nobody knows that these children have scabies and lice. To tell you the truth, there’s no way to control it.” http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2...

12. HILLARY, THE LEFT, AND LANIVAN DISTURBED THAT THE SUPREME COURT UPHELD THE LAW SIGNED BY BILL CLINTON

The conservative majority of the Supreme Court has taken the RFRA to it's logical extreme (go figure). In the past, RFRA cases were usually about dissent; now we have a case where 3rd parties can be affected by religious beliefs, and the very foundation of the RFRA is now threatened.

For one, in the Hobby Lobby alternate universe, contraceptives cause abortions. The contraceptives they claim cause abortions, of course do not - they do not allow fertilization to take place, so no abortion can occur. But according to Alito, it's not the job of SCOTUS to inquire into the reasonableness of the belief - in other words, as long as the belief is "sincerely-held", it doesn't matter whether that belief is a statement of fact, a crock, or a lie - doesn't matter!, just so long as the plaintiffs say it is "sincerely-held".

In that alternate HL universe, providing insurance as part of a wage package makes them morally responsible for how it is or isn't used. The NRA would rip SCOTUS a new one over this abortion of a claim - a gun store owner responsible for the murder of an individual killed by the gun of a customer, which was purchased legally under Federal law?

Besides all the other abominations involved with this case - corporations have religious beliefs that trump human religious beliefs and will probably be attending your church next Sunday (make sure you pass the plate several times down their isle), the incredible claim that contraceptives cause abortions, the bogus fear that providing insurance somehow makes one culpable for how it is used, this whole sham is nothing but(5) men in robes invoking their patriarchal, authoritarian religious worldviews - that conflict with the views of the vast majority of Americans, one should add, - to chip away at religious freedom, give corporations' annual physical another clean bill of health and infusion of power and control, with an extra dose of iron - and screw the taxpayers while they're at it.

#5. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said in a statement. "... the American public deserves to know that their tax dollars are allocated appropriately...". Really. Is Mitch referring to the millions and millions of taxpayer dollars spent on continual sham investigations into completed and settled investigations and reports, where the lack of any evidence of wrongdoing or malfeasance is proof positive that there must be some wrongdoing somewhere? The Republican-led government shutdown that cost the US economy billions?

Or perhaps the suing of the President by the Republican House for doing his job because, for (6) years now, at the salary of $174,000++/perks/benefits, they have willfully refused to do their jobs, blocking, obstructing, and sitting around whining about how they hate government, hate Americans, hate women, hate people of color, hate Obama, (but <3 Corporations) - and forced him to occasionally resort to an Executive Order (far fewer than most presidents - but who's counting?!) to keep America great? All on US taxpayers' "allocations", of course!!

I've had enough, I tell you. Enough.

Tri-cities realist

If one believes that life begins when an egg is fertilized, then Plan B (morning after) does in fact abort the fertilized egg by preventing attachment to the wall of the uterus.

Are any employees of Hobby Lobby prevented from purchasing these drugs with their own money?

And while you decry obstruction, it is a necessary part of a functioning representative republic. Were you complaining about all of the obstructing the democrats were doing while Bush was in office?

Yep, enough is enough.

Lanivan

Years of research have determined that in only a few exceptions, Plan B prevents ovulation and inhibits sperm from fertilizing the egg. There is nothing to abort. In fact - "The question of what tests could be performed before emergency contraceptive treatment is important because of the time-sensitive nature of Plan B. As Reznik put it, “The effectiveness of Plan B decreases with every passing hour, because the chance of missing [the pill’s prevention of] ovulation increases as time passes -- and science has demonstrated Plan B doesn’t work after ovulation occurs.” To reiterate: Once ovulation and and potential fertilization occurs, Plan B does not work. That is the science. The Hobby Lobby claim is based on willful manipulation of the facts and disingenuous argument using their religion as a smokescreen. Alito addressed this when he declared that the ruling does not determine whether the claim is based on science, but only if it is a sincerely held religious belief.

Now that corporations have the same or more powerful rights than American citizens, I'm curious: Under what method were they conceived?

Of course, employees of Hobby Lobby were not prevented from purchasing these drugs with their own money - or any birth control drug over the years before Obamacare, when their Hobby Lobby employer insurance covered birth control - all methods of birth control. It's only after the SCOTUS decision, Hobby Lobby can now reverse their policy of providing an insurance policy, paid for through the work of their employees, coverage for all methods of birth control (which had been covered for years).

I wonder? How many of their employees have been using birth control purchased through their work insurance policy over these past years? In what myriad of ways was this a distressful possibility to the owners of Hobby Lobby? Through the years of Hobby Lobby insurance policies covering birth control, were the employees ever prevented from purchasing these drugs with their own money? These drugs were never "free" - having been purchased indirectly through their insurance policy which is part of the compensation for their work - in other words, Hobby Lobby employees work for their wages, as well as the company insurance policy.

Read your history. Democrats were very cooperative with Bush until word got out that the WMD rumor was a lie to get us into a war-for-profit; when it was discovered that the Bush estimates of what Medicare Part D would cost were a lie, and it was going to cost about double that lie; and when Bush cut every dissenting opinion out of his meetings, his cabinet, and his council/counsel, no matter if they were members of his own party.

After all, it was on Bush's watch that the US fell into the most severe economic collapse since the 1930's.

The craven malfeasance of Republican obstruction of Obama and American citizens began the day after his inauguration, January 2009. And Bush issued 291 Executive Orders in 8 years - Obama = 180 in 6 years. Why weren't you complaining about Executive Orders during the Bush years? Fact - the Federal Government had tremendous growth under Bush. Why weren't you complaining about government expansion during the Bush years? Fact - Of the (6) leading causes of the increase in Federal Debt, Bush was responsible for (4) of them. Where you complaining about the Federal Debt expansion during the Bush years?

Tri-cities realist

Perhaps someone should inform the manufacturer http://www.planbonestep.com/hcp/...

And when does life begin? http://www.all.org/article/index...

"Democrats were very cooperative with Bush..." Thanks for the laugh.

Why weren't you complaining about Executive Orders during the Bush years? I was, although most didn't abrogate the authority of Congress like obama has.

Fact - the Federal Government had tremendous growth under Bush. Why weren't you complaining about government expansion during the Bush years? I was.

Fact - Of the (6) leading causes of the increase in Federal Debt, Bush was responsible for (4) of them. Where you complaining about the Federal Debt expansion during the Bush years? Yes I was, thanks for asking.

Lanivan

When does life begin? When does life end? I'm not getting into a philosophical discussion with you - 50-80% of fertilized eggs never successfully implant and end in spontaneous miscarriage, often unbeknownst to the woman. Pregnancy begins at successful implantation, and that is the question that should be asked. People really worried about abortion should strongly support universal access to contraception, and emergency contraception, as they are designed to not allow fertilization or implantation to occur. Abortions drop precipitously when women have a choice of various types of contraceptives that work for them.

Although I'm glad you had a good laugh, I'm not sure what is funny. Maybe you could give me an example of intransigent obstruction on the part of Dems during the Bush years, where they hunkered down for 8 years and refused to compromise on virtually any issue affecting the American public, or even attempt to do their job of governing. Chronic obstruction is not governing. I reject the idea of my tax dollars being used to pay someone to willfully refuse to do their job. I could never get away with that, nor did it ever occur to me to adopt this particular lack of work ethic.

Did Obama abrogate the authority of Congress, or did Congress abrogate their Constitutional duties to citizens?

Glad to see you finally, after years of debate where you fight me tooth and nail, admit you did not approve of President George W. Bush. This can be a step in the right direction, of intellectual and honest growth. Happy 4th of July! Have a (American) brew on me!

Should I be devastated?? But I'm not devastated?? Oh no - I must muster some devastation asap. The ad with the unflattering pic of Obama that makes him look like a sorry African-American tells me that as of July 1, I should expect devastation. But it's July 2 - and no devastation. I'm totally devastated by the lack of it.....

Barry Soetoro

Should I be devastated that you're not devastated?

Lanivan

So you're not devastated, either? So it wasn't something I was doing wrong? This explains the sudden absence of the duplicate posting of the Obama ad on this page that proclaimed devastation was to take place on July 1. Here it is, July 3, and no.....Is it time for that Beer Summit yet?

Barry Soetoro

I don't know if I'm devastated. Did you do something wrong? July 3 and no Beer Summit yet...NOW I'm devastated. Who's planning that damn thing anyway? For what it's worth, I've offered up two Summit Roll Calls so far. Response? Crickets.

The coordinator baton has gone from Wingmaster (back in the day) to you. But I propose the following criteria: 1.) Schedule a date when you are in town, 2.) Some evening at a local establishment that has live music, or at least a good juke box, but not too loud so we can actually have in-depth discussion, using our smart phones to fact-check and supply links, (;-D) 3.) To remain incognito, costumes, fake mustaches, wigs, eye patches, and/or controversial but dry t-shirts allowed, 4.) Signed waivers that forbid "outing" attendees when posting on this forum for at least 20 years, 5.) Reserve a table close to the door in the event I must make a hasty retreat when someone says, "hey - aren't you one of the dining diva dames"??

Hopefully, these rules and regulations will not fend off too many small government folks. How about - July 9th * 8:00p.m. * ---?
