#5. Leaked Internal DHS Report Admits Lack of Deportation Significant Factor in Border Crisis

A leaked internal Department of Homeland Security (DHS) report from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) indicates that recent public assertions made by the Administration were at best half-truths regarding the deportations and motivations of the waves of minors illegally entering the United States. The leaked report's release date is identified as June 3, 2014. http://www.breitbart.com/Breitba...

Who would have thunk Obumbler might lie to the American people?

Meanwhile, he is conducting 4 democrat fundraisers in Texas but refuses to go to the border to see the results of his devastating policies. http://hotair.com/archives/2014/...

13.) Hear ye, angry Republicans! Grab a PBR and raise a toast to President Obama!

One by one, the GOP's talking points about President Obama's management of the American economy have fallen by the wayside. Even before he first took the oath of office on January 20, 2009, Republicans were warning about the "Obama Bear Market." Instead, the Dow Jones has more than doubled in value in hitting record highs. Contrary to bogus Republicans claims that the Obama stimulus program "did not create a single job" and "made the economy worse," the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office and most other observers concluded his American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) boosted GDP, added millions of jobs and prevented "Great Depression 2.0." And with last week's strong jobs report, the final GOP sound bite--that under President Bush "added jobs for a record 52 straight months"--has now been tossed into the rhetorical dustbin of history.

With word that the U.S. economy added a robust 288,000 jobs in June, the Obama White House noted that the private sector has added 9.7 million jobs over 52 straight months of job growth.

We might add that over the course of Bush's presidency -- a total of 96 months -- the economy created 1.08 million jobs. That may sound like a lot, but compared to every other post-World War II president prior to Obama, it's the lowest average annual percentage increase in jobs created.

But they've added up, because under Obama, the economy has added 9.425 million jobs and lost 4.887, for a net gain of 4.538 million jobs. That's a 3 million advantage over Bush.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/20...

This is despite the fact that Bush increased public sector jobs, and under Obama, there has been a decrease in the number of public sector jobs. And that Republicans have blocked any and all jobs bills that would have speeded up the recovery.

We lost 523,000 full-time jobs and gained 840,000 part-time jobs. The hiring increase of part-time, non-living-wage, no-benefit jobs has been going on for five years now.

Real wages are down. There are 92 million people not in the workforce. The government at every level continually has their hand out. Gas is 4 bucks. Food is up 25%.

I realize that the elite want things to be better and that you will say anything to convince everybody it is. Things are not better and we don't believe you. You are the only ones buying champagne.

Lanivan

More inanities. So now the increase in part-time jobs has increased just since Obama became president? And here I thought you irrational types blamed the implementation of Obamacare just a few years ago for the increase! Well, guess what? It's been increasing since the 1990's. Some reasons why (although I realize these are based on facts and statistics, not emotions and intuitions):

1. The rise of big-box retailers like Walmart, with their long operating hours and complex staffing needs, has contributed to the increase in part-timers.

Mr. Flickinger, the retail consultant, said when Walmart spread nationwide and opened hundreds of 24-hour stores in the 1990s, that created intense competitive pressures and prompted many retailers to copy the company’s cost-cutting practices, including its heavy reliance on part-timers.

2. The use of part-timers has also escalated because of the declining power of labor unions. “They set a standard for what a real job was — Monday through Friday with full-time hours,” she said. “We’ve moved away from that.”

3. Powerful scheduling software, developed by companies like Dayforce and Kronos over the last decade, has been widely adopted by retail and restaurant chains. This makes part-time scheduling of hundreds of employees much easier.

4. Over the past two decades, many major retailers went from a quotient of 70 to 80 percent full-time to at least 70 percent part-time across the industry,” said Burt P. Flickinger III, managing director of the Strategic Resource Group, a retail consulting firm. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/2...

Yes - real wages for the working class are stagnant or decreasing. Yes - there are a great many long-term unemployed that have dropped off the radar. Yes - gas and food prices have been going up for decades. Which is why the Republican strategy of blocking all legislation that would address unemployment, a minimum wage increase, or any proposals to cut subsidies to the oil, gas, and big agriculture industries is so sadistic.

At least taxes are low. Federal taxes on middle-income Americans are near historic lows, according to the latest available data. That’s true both for federal income taxes and total federal taxes. CBO - April, 2014. Thanks Obama, for pushing to make the tax cuts on the middle class permanent.

Actually, Harry, many things are greatly improved in the past 5.5 years, considering the terrible condition the US economy was in when Obama took office. But thanks to the Herculean Republican efforts to sabotage economic growth and take it hostage for their corporate puppet-masters, it has been slow going, and growth and prosperity has not been evenly distributed. Hence the explosion in wealth disparity caused by the redistribution of wealth to the upper echelons of society.

Which is why your post is so terribly inane, bordering on fatuous if not ludicrous. Please stick to the poetry.

" So now the increase in part-time jobs has increased just since Obama became president? And here I thought you irrational types blamed the implementation of Obamacare just a few years ago for the increase! Well, guess what? It's been increasing since the 1990's."

Not so fast - let's look at some facts on part-time work since the 90's rather than Lanny's Stream of Consciousness riff fromn the Big Rock Candy Mountain:

" The Obamacare Effect penalizes companies for hiring full time workers. In part that’s because Obamacare redefined full time work to 29 hours per week. In part it’s because low wage occupations like waiting tables, entry level health technicians and retail are in industries that typically would have a hard time providing benefits for employees while offering products at prices consumers demand.

Not only has it raised the number of part time workers to unnatural levels, it also means that those workers get about ten percent fewer hours than previous part time workers got historically.

In the business cycle following the recession in the early 90s, part time employment topped out at 3.38 percent of the civilian population. Every year afterward it made steady progress so that in six years later part time employment stood at 1.78 percent of the population. In the peak year of the cycle, part time jobs dropped 55 percent.

Contrast that to the time under Obama: Part time employment peaked at 3.78 percent in 2009. Since then it has made much slower progress downward, and there are some indications that the trend is enjoying one of the periodic upward reversals that we’ve seen under Obama. Right now the numbers of part time workers stands at 2.95 percent of the population, as decline of only about 21 percent since 2009.

But again, even this understates the problem.

Because those full-time workers are making 10 percent less than they previously made because they can’t work as many hours." http://finance.townhall.com/colu...

And you blew your whole argument by using townhall.com - pity. See me when you actually are willing and able to provide an unbiased interpretation.

and dailykos is better?

Lanivan

I don't use just dailykos - apparently you don't read me. I also tap regularly into: Slate, New Republic, Nation, Politico, NYTimes, Atlantic, New Yorker, Salon, Washington Post, Christian Science Monitor, Mediamatters, Mediatate, Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, HuffPost, Mother Jones, Fox News, Cato Institute, Heritage Foundation, ALEC, and occasionally, legalinsurrection.

Vlad seems to be stuck on second and third helpings of townhall.com and hotair.com these days. Apparently, diversity isn't his strong suit, if you catch my drift.

Where do you get your information?

You forgot "High Times" in your list.

ah, geez - ok: kayakonline.com, winespectator.com, youtube.com, noaa-lakemibeach.com, and chicos.com

LanivAntoinette: "Let them drink Veuve Clicquot."

At least you didn't dispute the bogus job growth fluff. You just blamed Bush. If your Manchurian Candidate didn't want (or more obviously couldn't handle) the job, why was it handed to him?

*clink*

Lanivan

Telling that you picked Veuve Clicquot - it doesn't get the greatest reviews. You should have chosen "Layer Cake" - being fiscally conservative, that's more my speed, not to mention the title is vastly more satisfying in a droll, historically literary way.

I don't know why Americans voted Obama into office, not once, but twice, with a resounding majority of legitimate votes, but I'm glad they did.

Can you imagine the nightmare of an economy if Mitt had garnered more than 47% of the votes? Oh - that beastly percentage!!!

Barry Soetoro

I'll tell you what, if we can ever get a Trader Joe's in the area I'll spring for all the Charles Shaw the Comment Summiters can stomach - along with an industrial size jar of Motrin.

Another good word count today, Lani. If I could humbly make a suggestion: use more of the symbol-letter replacement obscenities in your essays. It helps drive your point home.

Your pal,

Barry S.

Lanivan

Hey! Maybe a Trader Joe's will open in the new, improved Grand Landing Expansion. Then we will see if you put your money where your mouth is.

Thanks for keeping score, Coach. I'll take your obscenities tip into consideration........yep - you're right. Consider it done.

Following Vlad's lead, our noted national conservative political intellectual and constitutional law scholar, Sarah Palin, in a late-election year fund-raising push, is demanding! President Obama's Impeachment!....

"Enough is enough of the years of abuse from this president," Palin, the former governor of Alaska and 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate, wrote. "His unsecured border crisis is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, 'no mas.'"

Palin suggested that the president has deliberately left the U.S.-Mexico border unsecured, echoing a similar theory floated by Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) earlier this week.

"Without borders, there is no nation," Palin wrote. "Obama knows this. Opening our borders to a flood of illegal immigrants is deliberate. This is his fundamental transformation of America. It’s the only promise he has kept."

Palin, who last year suggested that Obama could be impeached over the debt limit, argued in the Tuesday column that Obama's "rewarding of lawlessness" had caused "irreparable harm."

Lanny continues the progressive "War on Women" following the lead of the other non-women like Granny McRictus Botox Pelosi, Debbie Wasserman Blabbermouth Schultz, and Babs (Don't Call Me Ma'am) Boxer. http://youtu.be/ixiYZ9DPk8o

Of course, they ignore the fact that Sarah Palin had far more impressive and relevant Executive experience than O'Bumbler (which is being proven in spades every day he is in office) and accurately predicted O'Bumbler's passivity regarding the Soviet Union could well result in Putin taking over the Ukraine. Remember as you wallow in an odd fixation with basic bodily functions and secretions?

Lanivan

I meant the traditional Old English 16th Century definition of the word, but now that Vladtheimp has yet again raised the veil of innocence on Lanivan, I suppose you'll never know for sure.

Sarah Palin has achieved great fame and fortune off her "impressive and relevant Executive experience" and certainly doesn't need you to hoist her up on a token, smokin' hot conservative Republican, Guns, Ammo, and American Flag Real American pedestal. Just keep sending her money, please.

By the way, since you seem to have lots of time on your hands today (lousy golfing weather), could you find out if Sarah has used her fame and fortune to help Down Syndrome fundraising? I keep looking, but come up empty.

Vladtheimp

Don't know - maybe like most private citizens she doesn't disclose her tax information (but don't worry, the IRS will eventually illegally access and release it to their media buddies).

I am certain that before Sheriff Joe decided once again that he wanted to be President, Sarah and her husband Todd made more charitable donations than the Vice President and Dr. Jill Biden!

Lanivan

To report back on my findings: She doesn't do much in the way of speaking engagements for special needs children events, or any other serious fundraising for charitable organizations such as Down Syndrome, etc, unless she gets paid to do so.

Think Sarah and Todd make charitable donations? My inside source says not a chance. Do grifters make charitable donations?

Vladtheimp

Check the stinginess of the Vice Grifters - Joey "Plugs" Biden and Dr. Phil er Jill.

Lanivan

I didn't know that Vice President and Dr. Jill Biden paraded their special needs child as a prop to galvanize their base and drum up donations to their "campaign" fund, only to walk away from any further support of organizations that strive to address the needs of those children - unless getting a tidy stipend for their efforts.

Vladtheimp

I guess you have no shame about making the child a "prop" http://legalinsurrection.com/200...
