Due to the Coast Guard Festival in Grand Haven this weekend, the northwest quadrant sirens will not sound during this month’s test. This includes sirens in the cities of Grand Haven and Ferrysburg, Spring Lake Village, and Grand Haven, Spring Lake, Robinson and Crockery townships.

In the remaining three quadrants of the county, the sirens will sound for 1-3 minutes.

Ottawa County Emergency Management and Ottawa County Central Dispatch ensure that the sirens are properly functioning on a daily basis 365 days per year. This is accomplished via a computer system that communicates with each individual siren several times a day.

Monthly siren tests occur on the first Friday of each month from March through November. The next scheduled test is Sept. 5.
