From now until Sunday, Aug. 10, residents can submit videos for “The CNN iReport Assignment: Convince us your city is healthy!” CNN will feature 10 cities or metropolitan areas that make health a priority, and CNN is looking for residents to share why their area should be featured.

Entries should introduce the speaker and where they live, and tell CNN how Ottawa County inspires them to be healthy. If possible, residents should also include footage of what they mention.

Videos can be submitted online at http://ireport.cnn.com/topics/1153052.

Local health officials also ask that residents send them a PDF copy of their entry to Kristina Wieghmink, spokeswoman for the Ottawa County Department of Public Health, at kwieghmink@miottawa.org.

Wieghmink said it’s the first time the local health department has been involved in the CNN iReport.

“It’s an opportunity to share with community members and around the world why health is a priority in Ottawa County,” she said.

Videos selected will be based on originality and creativity, passion for health, communication of the county’s qualities, and the number of entries for Ottawa County.

Wieghmink said they hope the videos inspire others to live healthy lifestyles.

“If people know others are doing it, hopefully individuals will see that example and implement nutrition into their daily lives,” she said.
