Speed limit to go up on portion of Beechtree Street

Grand Haven City Council has approved the raising of speed limits on Beechtree Street from Fulton Avenue to Marion Avenue to 30 mph. The measure was unanimously approved Monday night. The Grand Haven Department of Public Safety made the recommendation after investigating the street earlier this year. The current speed on that section of the street is 25 mph. Based on analysis by GHDPS, Beechtree doesn't meet criteria for keeping the road a 25-mph street.

Council also voted Monday to keep the current speed limit on Beechtree, from Marion Avenue south to Robbins Road, at 35 mph.
