These adult leisurely paddles, led by parks naturalist Kristen Hintz, are geared for first-timers as well as experienced paddlers who want to enjoy the plants, animals and other natural features along the river corridor. Each trip includes a lesson on the basics of kayaking by staff from Kayak-Kayak in Holland.
Participants will paddle about 1.5 miles from Hemlock Crossing County Park to Pine Bend, and then back upstream to Hemlock Crossing.
The trip fee is $35 per person and includes kayaks, paddles and life jackets. There are also a limited number of spaces for those bringing their own kayaks for $15 per person.
Advanced registration is required for everyone, as space is limited. A letter with trip details will be sent in advance to those registered.
To register or for more information, call the county’s Nature Education Center at 616-786-4847.
