Tri-Cities Family YMCA offers spring break programs

Moments after getting tagged out in Tuesday's final game of dodgeball, Jack Hecksel sat at a table in the Tri-Cities Family YMCA gym. At the end of the day's Spring Break Camp, the 10-year-old Grand Haven resident and his 7-year-old brother, Joey - who was still in the game when Jack went out - both said they had a good time. "My favorite is the swimming and imagination station,' Jack said.

The Hecksel brothers attended one of many activities available to children and adults at the local YMCA, 1 Y Drive in Grand Haven. Along with day camps for children ages 4-13, activities for younger children and free fitness classes for adults are also being offered, YMCA Executive Director Dean Buntley said.

“Not everybody can afford to go on spring break, and we want to make Grand Haven a fun place for families and kids to be here,” Buntley said. “When school’s out, we want to jump in to give families a choice to enjoy an economic, fun time.”
