Kelly vacates SL Village Council seat

Village residents interested in filling a partial term on Village Council have until April 13 to submit an application. The council seat, vacated by Ryan Kelly, expires in December. Kelly, who has served on council since 2005, moved out of the village and into Crockery Township last week.

“I had a lot of fun on council and I’m glad to see some of the programs we focused on coming to fruition,” said Kelly — who mentioned the Grand River Greenway, road paving and lowering of taxes as pivotal accomplishments. “There are a lot of great people in the village and I wish more people would volunteer. There are a lot of people who could do some great things for this area.”

Village President Bill Filber said council appreciates Kelly’s service.

“I encourage people to apply if they’d like to get active in local government,” Filber said. “There’s probably not a better time to get involved. The uncertainty of the economy is a big challenge. It would be great to have more people who are willing to serve.”

Interested residents may pick up an application at Village Hall, 102 W. Savidge St. in Spring Lake; or apply online at www.springlakevillage.org. Click on the “forms and permits” link, then “application for village boards and commissions.” Call 842-1393 after submitting to confirm receipt.
