Shoreline Spectacular sues city of Muskegon

The Shoreline Spectacular and the annual Muskegon event's organizer, Pamela Carey, are suing the city of Muskegon and city leaders. The suit was filed by an Okemos attorney in federal court. It accuses the Muskegon City Commission, Mayor Steve Warmington and City Manager Bryon Mazade of discrimination.

City leaders are also accused of giving preferential treatment to a festival that competes with the Shoreline Spectacular — allegedly because its organizers are friends with city officials — and Muskegon Police Chief Tony Kleibecker is accused of requiring excessive police presence and temporarily revoking the festival’s liquor license.

The suit is intended to recoup an undetermined amount of financial losses.
