Congressman to hold teletown hall meeting tonight

U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga will host three teletown halls this week to hear what his constituents think of the long-term bill to fund the government for the rest of the 2011 fiscal year. The first of the three telephone meetings will begin at 5:45 p.m. today for residents of Ottawa County and northern Allegan County. The other two teletown halls will take place Thursday for residents in Muskegon, Newaygo, Kent, Oceana, Mason, Lake, Wexford, Manistee, and Benzie counties.

“It is very important that I get my constituents’ feedback, and I encourage the 2nd District — whether it’s through these teletown halls or my website at Huizenga.house.gov/contact — to let me know before the vote what you think and if you support them,” said Huizenga, R-Zeeland. “Teletown halls are a great way to reach out to many people at once, and we will poll the (expected thousands) of people on the line, as well as get live comments and feedback on this very important funding debate.”

Telephone town hall technology calls many households throughout the district at the designated times. To ensure that you’re on the list to receive a call, call the Huizenga’s Holland office at 616-395-0030 and leave your name, county and phone number.
