Sterenberg, who is involved in the local music scene and has played at past Earth Rock concerts, said he was recently asked to take over the event. He said he and other committee members involved with the various Earth Day events have been going over logistics of the show in addition to the other activities taking place today.
Organizers hope that the Earth Day concert and the other activities continue to grow and attract more people.The event kicks off a full slate of Earth Day activities today in Grand Haven.
At 10:30 a.m., there will be a yoga class at the Grand Haven Community Center, 421 Columbus Ave., taught by Barb Carlson of Lakeshore Yoga Center.
An Earth Day march takes place at noon today. It will head west from the Ottawa County Courthouse to Washington Avenue, south to Harbor Drive, north to Columbus Avenue and then east toward the Community Center.
At the Community Center, more than 30 booths will demonstrate Earth-friendly products and practices during an Earth Day fair. The fair runs from 1-4 p.m.
