Michigan hit by snow, rain, hail in Midwest storm

Severe storms making their way across the Midwest Tuesday night and this morning brought a combination of snow, rain and hail to areas of Michigan. Heavy rain and hail were reported this morning in the Detroit area. The National Weather Service said the northern Lower Peninsula was hit by snow, with more than 6 inches reported in Lake Leelenau over a six-hour period that ended Tuesday night. Other parts of the northern Lower Peninsula got lower snow totals, with more than 5 inches reported in Alden and more than 3 inches in Cadillac.

Rain also brought the possibility of what the weather service describes as minor flooding. A flood advisory was issued for parts of Kalamazoo County.
