Animal shelter to kick off pet adoptathon April 30

Harbor Humane Society is partnering with North Shore Animal League America by participating in the International Pet Adoptathon event next month. Thousands of shelters in dozens of countries are joining in this year's month-long Pet Adoptathon 2011 to find "forever homes' for each and every pet in its care. The adoptathon will run the entire month of May and Harbor Humane Society will offer $10 off all adoption fees.

At a kick-off event from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 30, Harbor Humane Society will also offer microchipping for $10 per pet. From cat beds to dog bandanas, the society’s Hands for Paws craft group will have merchandise for sale, with all proceeds benefiting the West Olive animal shelter. Refreshments will be provided.
