The Center for Women bases their “May Baskets” campaign on the traditional holiday that occurs on May 1: May Day. Traditionally, baskets filled with flowers are given to women on May Day; however the Center focuses on providing deserving women and families baskets filled with much-needed household items.
“Many of the clients are in dire need of such products but do not have the resources to acquire them,” said Sherry Martens, volunteer coordinator for the Center. The campaign provided more than 100 filled laundry baskets to clients last year.
For more information and a complete list of items needed for the baskets, contact Sherry Martens at 616-494-1747 or consult the Center for Women in Transition’s website: www.aplaceforwomen.org.
