Grand Haven DDA to hold meeting on Principal Shopping District

Property and business owners in the Main Street Downtown Development Authority will have a chance to voice their opinion on plans to make the DDA district the city's Principal Shopping District. According to MSDDA Director Dana Kollewehr, a stakeholder meeting is planned for 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Grand Haven Community Center with the objective of providing background and information on the purpose of the proposed Principal Shopping District.

“The MSDDA is hopeful that the business owners in the district understand the value of the PSD,” Kollewehr said.

The PSD is a local funding mechanism that can be used to support a variety of services within the district.

The intent of Grand Haven’s PSD would be to fund activities related to business improvement through marketing and promotions in a unified and equitable way.

Some of the PSD activities would include promotion through various media outlets, implementation of a new downtown brand, improved directional signs and kiosks, direct mail items, and the creation and expansion of special events.
