Lighthouse Quilting Guild celebrates quilting month

March was National Quilting Month and Lighthouse Quilt Guild held several events to celebrate. Among them was their Unfinshed Objects auction. Members brought in items that they would be unable to complete and they were auctioned off to others. The guild had approximately 50 items auctioned off by member Elizabeth Clark. Twenty-five percent of the proceeds from each item was donated to Feeding America of West Michigan. Sixteen of those items were donated by guild members or friends. All of the money raised from these items was collected for Feeding America.

Feeding America works with Love INC in the Tri-Cities to deliver food at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church twice a month.

In 2009, the club’s first UFO Auction raised $550. The LQG Board added an additional $100 for the purchase of a 7,500-pound food truck for those less fortunate in the Tri-Cities area.

This year, the club raised $713 at their auction. Additional donations have come in throughout the following weeks totaling another $45 in order to purchase a 10,000-pound food truck for Feeding America, which costs $800.
