Arbor Day tree planting takes on special meaning

An Arbor Day tree planting at Grand Haven's Central Park on Friday was extra special for city employees and members of the city's Department of Public Works crew. Employee David Law, who had a brain-stem stroke earlier this year, joined city officials and DPW employees in helping plant the tree at the park. From almost losing his life to, now being able to joke around and help with the tree planting, Grand Haven Mayor Roger Bergman said he was glad to see Law at Central Park and wanting to get involved with the parks again.

“I think it’s pretty special to have Dave out here because of all that he has been through,” Bergman said.

According to Bergman, the tree in Central Park isn’t the first one he’s planted in that location.
