More than 300 students will provide the musical entertainment to “Pop Goes the Sailors Goes Wild,” which is centered around an animal theme. All of the choirs will sing the opening medley of “Rockin’ Robin,” “Spinning Wheel,” “Teddy Bear,” “Hound Dog” and “The Circle of Life.”

Each of the Mona Shores choirs will also perform in their own number. The 100-voice women’s Treble Choir will sing and dance to “When We’re Human” from “Princess and the Frog”; “Who Let the Dogs Out?” will be performed by the 35-voice Men’s Choir; the advanced women’s choir, Acappella, will sing and dance to “She’s In Love” from “The Little Mermaid”; and the top mixed ensemble, Singers, will entertain with “Earth Song” by Michael Jackson.

Along with the choirs, 28 specialty acts will be performed — including the Muskegon Showcase Showstopper Award winner “Show Me Your Burlesque” and the Destination ImagiNation state champions performing “Dear Zoo.”

Each of these pieces is choreographed by students and some are original compositions. Most of the pieces are accompanied by live musicians; many of them fellow band and orchestra students.

The show’s closer will feature all 300 students performing “Blackbird” by the Beatles.

A special feature on Saturday night will be the “Senior Walk Off,” recognizing each of the graduating seniors. “The Senior Song,” a 10-year tradition, was composed and will be performed this year by senior Sylvia Yacoub.

Tickets may be purchased today through Thursday and May 9-11 from 6– 7:30 p.m. at the Mona Shores High School Performing Arts Center Lobby; and before each performance, May 12–14, beginning at 6 each night.
