Election today

Election ballots in Northwest Ottawa County today include several uncontested school board seats, school operating millage renewals and a busing proposal in Grand Haven Township. Polls opened at 7 this morning. Grand Haven Township voters are being asked today to approve a five-year, 0.95-mill tax to fund Harbor Transit routes in the township. The millage would also fund repair and construction projects for township roads, bridges and drainage structures.

Grand Haven Area Public Schools and Spring Lake Public Schools have their 18-mill nonprincipal residence operating millage renewals before voters today.

In addition, two Grand Haven school board members and one Spring Lake trustee are running unopposed for re-election. GHAPS Trustee Carl Treutler is seeking re-election to a four-year term and Trustee Jennifer Williams is seeking election to a partial term ending June 2012. Spring Lake Public Schools Trustee Paul Aldridge is seeking re-election to a four-year term.

Polls close at 8 p.m. The Tribune will have the results online tonight, as soon as they become available.
