Up for consideration are songs from “Fame,” “Footloose,” “Singin’ in the Rain,” “Hair,” “Mary Poppins” and “Chicago.” The Teen Intensive starts June 13 and ends with a performance on Friday, June 17.
Next is CPP’s two-week camp in June for 4- to 12-year-olds. Called “Rising Stars and Shooting Stars,” this session runs from June 20-30. This camp is divided into two sessions: from 10 a.m. to noon for ages 4-7 (Rising Stars) and from 1-4 p.m. for ages 8-12 (Shooting Stars). Each camp focuses on rehearsing its own show, as well as learning theater basics and teamwork.
Rising Stars will be performing “Arf!” — the story of Rover, a lovable mutt and his journey to finding out why he is just as special as any of the other purebred dogs. The stage will be filled with dalmatians, poodles, boxers and many others.
Shooting Stars will be performing “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” the classic tale of the gullible king duped into hiring two scoundrels to weave an invisible suit of clothes that “only the wise” can see.
Both groups will perform Thursday, June 30.
New this year is a second session for ages 8-12 on July 17-22. This one-week session will be all-day classes, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Partial need-based scholarships are available for all camps. These scholarships will pay for up to half of the tuition. The deadline for submitting a scholarship application is May 18.
