GH school board discusses strategic plan for 2011-12

Members of the Grand Haven school board gathered at the Mulligan's Hollow lodge late last week to discuss their strategic plan for the current school year and the next. The focus, said Superintendent Keith Konarska, was to update the district's one-page strategic plan. This document provides a framework for what the district hopes to accomplish and the standards expected of district staff, according to the district's website.

Board members discussed the new strategic plan at their annual school board retreat on Friday. The day’s activities included an event where representatives from each school building in the district set up a display showing the year’s achievements at their buildings. Large cardboard displays showed graphs of attendance, grades and standardized test data, as well as programs and activities available to the students.

The expo-type event was new this year, said Ann Haruki-Shelton, a communications specialist for the district.
