2 of 3 cross-state walkers finish journey in Grand Haven

Sean Mackey's children and nephew joined him and his friend, Mike Tidball, on Wednesday for the last 6 miles of their cross-state walk - from Port Huron to Grand Haven. Tidball of Grand Rapids and Mackey of Grand Haven reached their destination - the Lake Michigan beach - at 7:15 p.m. The pair started their walk May 2 from Port Huron with Meg Collins, who dropped out on May 5 in Lansing, according to Mackey's Twitter account. Mackey and Tidball began the last leg Wednesday morning at Wilson Street and M-45 in Walker.

The walkers were the guests of a celebration at the Kirby Grill in downtown Grand Haven, where their friends and families congratulated them and continued their fundraising efforts. Marlane Lewis and Jeff Lionheart played music at the party.

In all, Mackey and Tidball walked 218.64 miles — which took 82 hours, 34 minutes, over nine days. They said they have sore muscles today and countless blisters, but raised $2,125 for their cause of helping to fund arts programs for local and global communities.
