Sanctuary at the Shore residents celebrate wedding

Residents at Sanctuary at the Shore, a long-term care community in Grand Haven, celebrated the royal wedding on April 29 by donning their best clothes, shared wedding photos, enjoyed a specially-made wedding cake and had a bridal shower in honor of the English nuptials.

“It was wonderful to be able to turn the celebration of the royal wedding into a celebration of our residents,” said Sarah Ziska, the home’s director of hospitality. “Not only did the residents enjoy watching the wedding, but happily shared their own wedding photos and stories with one another.”

Students from Lakeshore Christian Academy helped the seniors decorate special hats, which were worn by the residents while watching the royal wedding on television.
