Windsor McCay Trivia Challenge announced at SLDL

In anticipation of Winsor McCay Day at Spring Lake District Library on Tuesday, June 14, the library is hosting a cartoon caption contest and a trivia challenge. McCay was a pioneer in the field of animation who spent his formative years in Spring Lake during the late 1800s.

Adults age 18 and older are invited to submit captions for any or all three of the McCay-style cartoons created by local artists Kevin Collier and Aaron Zenz. Pick up the cartoons at Spring Lake District Library and return them with your creative captions by June 1. Three winners will be chosen, and each will win a $25 gift certificate to The Bookman in Grand Haven.

Spring Lake District Library will also be hosting a Winsor McCay Trivia Challenge Contest at 7 p.m. June 14. Team up with family or friends to participate; the winning team will receive a $75 gift certificate to Old Boys’ Brewhouse, courtesy of Old Boys’ and the Friends of Spring Lake District Library. Teams consisting of three adults will compete against one another to test their knowledge of Winsor McCay. Teams need to pre-register at the library by June 6.
