Gallery Uptown exhibit is ‘Uniquely West Michigan’

"Uniquely West Michigan' is the focus of the June exhibition at Gallery Uptown in downtown Grand Haven. The exhibit will feature husband and wife artists Mike and Catherine McClung of Spring Lake. Although Mike has been creating furniture for most of his life and Catherine has been selling her paintings for 35 years, this will be the first time they have exhibited together.

Only after Mike retired two years ago did he become serious about creating fine art contemporary furniture for sale. He designs and builds furniture using exotic woods from around the world.

Catherine is known for her watercolor paintings of birds in their natural habitat and for her designs for Lenox china.

The exhibition will have an opening reception from 5:30-8 p.m. Friday, June 3.

Also featured will be songbird and waterfowl carvings by Spring Lake artist Terry Kipling. Randall Higdon will travel from Colome to show his West Michigan landscape paintings and Stacy Niedzwiecki of Rockford will feature her nature images of Michigan’s West Coast.
