Manager: SL close to having balanced budget in 2011-12

Village Council will host a budget public hearing at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Barber School, 102 W. Exchange St. The 2011-2012 fiscal year document will maintain the current millage rate of 11.6619 mills. Water and sewer rates are scheduled to decline a net 10 percent and all key services will be maintained. The document reflects a 3.5 percent reduction in revenues. Total operating costs are budgeted to decrease more than 2.5 percent - $33,442 less than last year.

“There are a lot of moving pieces this year because of the Governor’s budget, Kathy (Staton) leaving and health insurance costs,” said Village Manager Ryan Cotton.

“We budgeted for the worst case scenario of zero state revenue sharing and we anticipated higher than expected health insurance costs. Even so, we have a nearly balanced budget.”
