First-ever 'Ride for Habitat' fundraiser to roar Saturday

The Tri-Cities Area Habitat for Humanity is hitting the road to help house those in need. The first ever "Ride for Habitat' motorcycle fundraiser motors out of the Spring Lake Wesleyan Church parking lot at 10 a.m. on Saturday and coasts to a conslusion five hours later at Hot Rod Harley-Davidson, 149 Shoreline Drive in Muskegon. Registration runs from 9-10 a.m. at Spring Lake Wesleyan, 15550 Cleveland St. The cost to participate is $20 per rider; $10 for passengers.

Tri-Cities Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Beth Hanis said anyone is welcome to join the non-competitive fundraiser. Food, raffles and door prizes are planned for the end of the route.

Hanis said the event has already brought in more than $10,000 from sponsors, which was the original target goal for the fundraiser.
