Online auction company opens in Grand Haven

Hope Tripp grew up in the auction business - a trade that she said is like treasure hunting for her. Tripp, 45, said she still has an antique child's trunk her mother bought for her at an auction when she was 12 years old. So when she had the chance to begin her own auction company with business partner Murray Swiftney, 51, the two seized the opportunity. Right Choice Online Auctions opened for business on May 26 after two months of renovations to their showroom, 207 S. Beechtree St. in Grand Haven.

Right Choice does Internet auctions for more than 7,000 registered users, the partners said.

“People bring the items to us and consign them, and then we sell them on a commission rate for them,” Tripp said. “We take the items in, set them up (and) display them. Everything gets a number, picture (and description) — and then put in the Internet.”

Consignors can drop off items by appointment throughout the week after signing a contract agreeing to the 30-percent commission rate — or 15 percent on titled items — among other terms.

Is Hope Tripp related to the Tripp auction place in Nunica that went out of business rather abruptly, leaving some people unpaid?

Yep she's his sister from the video I saw on Wood TV. Hard to believe that she bought the name of his auction site and he doesn't have money to pay all the customers he stole from. I have to take a cautious approach here as a consumer and say I'd rather do my auction business with Bee Green. Those 7,000 registered users are from Tripp Auction which sold everything and kept the money, so I doubt many of those 7,000 names will be buying from a new name....
