GH looking to update Master Plan for proposed PSD, Robbins Road

The Grand Haven Planning Commission will be looking at updating the city's Master Plan in order to pave the way for the proposed Principal Shopping District in downtown Grand Haven. Regulations state that to establish a PSD, each municipality must have it written in a master plan that includes an urban design plan designating a PSD or the development of a PSD. "All of that language has to happen before the PSD can come to fruition,' City Planner Kristin Keery said.

Keery said while language must be in place before the PSD is adopted, city officials can continue to work on developing the district and hold necessary hearings.

According to Keery, the Planning Commission will develop language, hold public hearings and forward its proposed recommendation to City Council. There is also a mandate that the plan sit for 45 days for review, Keery said.

“We’re about two months out before we can make that recommendation,” Keery said.
