Library’s summer reading clubs under way

Loutit District Library's 2011 summer reading clubs - "One World, Many Stories' for children and "You Are Here' for teens - kicked off this week. Children of all ages and teens are invited to read books, attend special events, win prizes and become eligible for a grand prize drawing at the end of the program. Sign up began this week in the youth wing of the library, 407 Columbus Ave. The program continues through July 29.

The Summer Reading Club is presented in collaboration with the Tri-Cities Historical Museum and Spring Lake District Library, and presented at libraries in the Lakeland Library Cooperative.

Loutit’s special programs will be offered throughout June and July. Check the electronic signs in the library for the latest information. Schedules are available in pamphlets in the youth wing or online at www.loutitlibrary.org.

These events include: “Konnichiwa” on June 17 at 10:30 a.m.; “Dance” on June 20 at 2 p.m.; “Animal Around the World” on June 28 at 10:30 a.m.; “Parrots and More Parrots” on July 7 at 10:30 a.m.; “Sport Stacking with Mr. Jim” on July 14 at 2 p.m.; “One World, Many Stories” on July 19 at 1 p.m.; and “Craft Crazy” on July 27 at 2 p.m. Especially for children under age 5, Storytime takes place on Mondays at 6:30 p.m., and Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m., in the library’s Youth Program Room.
