Tri-Cities Family YMCA to host blood drive Thursday

The Tri-Cities Family YMCA will host a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. The drive is being organized by Michigan Blood - an independent, nonprofit organization that provides blood and blood products for hospitals across Michigan's Lower Peninsula. The blood drive will take place at the YMCA, 1 Y Drive in Grand Haven, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Donors can visit www.miblood.org to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins are also always welcome throughout the drive. Everyone who attempts to donate will receive a free T-shirt.

Any healthy person age 17 or older (or 16 with parental consent) who weighs at least 110 pounds may be eligible to give blood every 56 days. On average, one out of every seven people entering the hospital will need blood.
