‘Green’ roof installation set to begin this week

With the Grand Haven Community Center "green' roof project slated to begin this week, officials from the city of Grand Haven are asking residents to use caution in the construction area.

“The ‘green’ roof project is both exciting and a little bit of a logistics challenge. We need to work together to get the roof installed and to also accommodate the on-going activities at the Community Center,” Grand Haven Special Project Manager Julie Beaton said. “A number of folks have expressed interest in viewing the project and taking photographs. We think this is great. However, there are a few rules.”

People are asked not to trespass near the equipment and not to park in the north parking lot off of Fulton Street. The lot will be off limits to all but the installers and North Ottawa County Council on Aging visitors.

According to Beaton, the east windows on the upper floor of the Loutit District Library may provide the best and safest way to view the project.
