Boersma named Mich. township clerk of the year

Spring Lake Township Clerk Carolyn Boersma has received the annual Township Clerk of the Year award from her peers. The Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks awarded the honor last week during the organization's annual conference in Bellaire. "I think it's a huge honor and a humbling experience,' said Boersma, who has served as the township clerk since 2004 following a term as the president of Kent City.

“I’m just speechless, still. I took my oath of office to do my job to the best of my ability — so help me, God. And He has.”

Township Manager Gordon Gallagher said he is proud of Boersma, who was re-elected to her position in 2008.
