HSRT opens ‘Forbidden Planet’ musical on July 8

The Hope Summer Repertory Theatre's production of the award-winning musical "Return to the Forbidden Planet' by Bob Carlton will open Friday, July 8, at 8 p.m. in the DeWitt Main Theatre. The musical integrates the great works of Shakespeare and music of the 1950s.

Captain Tempest is played by Brian Patrick Williams, joining HSRT for his first season. He is a graduate of the Connecticut Repertory Theatre and University of Connecticut, where he just graduated with a master’s degree in fine arts. Some of his favorite roles include Mr. Bingley in “Pride and Prejudice,” Cassio in “Othello,” Mr. Walker in “The Who’s Tommy” and Claude in “Hair.” Recently, he worked with the P.U.S.H. Physical Theatre Company in Rochester, N.Y., on skills in nontraditional partnering, viewpoints, mime and ensemble-based devised theater. 

Performances of “Return to the Forbidden Planet” continue throughout the summer on July 9, 13, 15, 18 and 21; and Aug. 3, 6, 9 and 11.

Tickets are now on sale through the DeWitt and DeVos Fieldhouse ticket offices. Prices range from $10 to $26.
