‘Great Train Robbery’ hops on C&M Railway in July

The Wild West comes alive on Saturdays in July onboard the Coopersville & Marne Railway. "The Great Train Robbery' will take place on July 9, 16 and 23. The 200-seat vintage train leaves the station at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. each of those days for the 90-minute round-trip. Dance hall girls hand out costume jewelry and railroad dollars to all passengers. During the journey, outlaws on horseback chase the train, brave sheriff's deputies protect the passengers and there's a shoot-out in the badlands of Marne.

On the way back to Coopersville, the train is again attacked and stopped. This time, the bad guys get aboard and “rob” the passengers, but the good guys win the day by the time the train returns to the station.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department’s Mounted Division. All participants are sworn officers, their families and C&M Railway volunteers — even the “bad guys.”

Ticket prices are $14.50 for adults, $13.50 for senior citizens (age 60-plus) and $11.50 for children ages 2-12. Children under age 2 ride free.

Parents are cautioned that the loud gunfire (similar to fireworks) may be too much for the littlest buckaroos.

Call 616-997-7000 for advance tickets or visit www.MItrain.net. Tickets are also available at the station on the days of shows.
