‘Stocked’ to be a kitchen resource nationwide

Grand Haven-area residents Stacey Krastins and Sarah Kallio could soon be household names in kitchens across the country. The Grand Haven Township women's cookbook, "The Stocked Kitchen,' has been picked up by nationally known publisher Atria Books, a division of Simon & Schuster. The publishing giant began selling the 325-recipe cookbook earlier this week. "For us, this is really what the goal was all about - getting picked up by a national publisher,' said Kallio, 36. "It gives the book exposure.'

It is not just a typical cookbook, but a systematic approach to cooking and grocery shopping. It also includes a grocery list of common items that are in the recipes and should be “stocked” in the kitchen.

The duo said they’ve sold more than 7,500 copies on their own. They earned a gold medal last year for cookbooks in the Independent Publisher Book Awards.
