Severe thunderstorm warning in effect

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for southwest Michigan, including Ottawa County, until 8:45 this morning. A line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph were moving across the area this morning. These storms were moving southeast at 55 mph. Small hail may also accompany these damaging winds.

The weather bureau said these storms have a history of producing widespread wind damage. This is an extremely dangerous situation. The weather bureau advises residents to seek shelter inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows as the storm move through the area.
