Groundbreaking set for Grand River Greenway on Monday

The village of Spring Lake will host a groundbreaking gathering for the first phase of the Grand River Greenway at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Mill Point Park off School Street, south of Savidge. The bike path, a vision from the village's 1987 Master Plan, will run from Village Cove Marina just east of the Holiday Inn, through the wetlands to Mill Point Park - then east through Tanglefoot Park to Division Street, ending at Exchange.

The first phase includes a raised walk through the wetlands, 16 boat slips and a new restroom facility at Mill Point, and a kayak launch at the end of Cutler Street.

Construction is scheduled to begin next week at Mill Point, heading east through Tanglefoot Park.

Eight waterfront lots were removed because of construction. It is unknown at this time how many may be replaced, according to engineers.
