The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality has given nearly $185,000 in grants to help local governments monitor water quality at inland lake beaches.
The state said in a release that 13 grants were awarded.
Fourteen beaches will be monitored under a $23,000 grant to the Central Michigan District Health Department. Another $22,705 is going to the Ottawa County Health Department for eight beaches.
The grants are funded through the Clean Michigan Initiative-Clean Water Fund.
