Flash flood watch

A flash flood watch is in effect for portions of Michigan's Lower Peninsula, including Ottawa County, through Friday afternoon. A flood advisory is in effect for Ottawa and Clinton counties until 8:30 this morning. Runoff from excessive rainfall earlier this morning may cause minor flooding to occur, according to the National Weather Service. Heavy rainfall occurred overnight and is expected for later this morning. Some areas have already seen 2-6 inches of rain over the past 24 hours.

A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding — a very dangerous situation, NWS meteorologists say.
