Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp’s final concert session begins Friday

Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp's fourth and final session of concerts and events for its 2011 season will include performances by the Staff Band, Festival Band and Festival Orchestra.

It will also include European groups touring the Midwest as a part of Blue Lake’s International Exchange Program, a homecoming concert by a Blue Lake International Program ensemble, events in the 26th annual Leonard Falcone International Euphonium and Tuba Festival and Competition, concerts in the Blodgett Recital Series, James Niblock’s opera “The Last Leaf,” and the Season Finale Concert on Aug. 20.

The schedule kicks off Friday with the opera “The Last Leaf” at the Twin Lake camp’s Miller Theater. Admission is $20 and seating is limited. For tickets, call 231-894-1966.

The Blue Lake Faculty Showcase will also take place Friday at the camp’s Stewart Music Shell. Admission is  $10.

Both Friday events will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The opera and showcase will continue at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. In addition, the Falcone Festival Adjudicator Recital will take place at the camp’s Blodgett Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $10.

On Sunday, the Blue Lake Festival Band will perform at the Stewart Music Shell and pianist Albert Kim will perform at the Blodgett Recital Hall. Both performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. and admission is $10 at each show.

Other events take place Aug. 15, and 17-20. The Blue Lake Festival Orchestra will perform the season finale at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Stewart Music Shell. Admission is $10.
