GH City Council to decide on tax abatement Monday

Grand Haven City Council members will be asked to grant an Industrial Facilities Tax Exemption Certificate for Grand Haven Custom Molding when they meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall, 519 Washington Ave.

According to council meeting documents, the city received a request from the company at 1500 S. Beechtree St. for the tax abatement because of a planned expansion. According to the company’s IFT application, the growth will Grand Haven Custom Molding “from a small startup company with annual sales of about $4.5 million to a successful business with annual sales approaching $30 million by the middle of 2013.”

Work includes expanding the existing building, fixing a 39-year-old roof, and adding new injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment. The company also indicates it will grow from 15 to 65 full-time employees due to the expansion.

During a 7 p.m. work session, council will be hearing from City Planner Kristin Keery about an update to the city’s facade grant.
