11th Art on the Riverfront is Saturday

The annual Art on the Riverfront - an outdoor juried art show held along Grand Haven's boardwalk at the Municipal Marina - will take place Saturday. Now on its 11th year, the one-day exhibit showcases the works of accomplished regional artists in a wide variety of media - including painting, photography, sculpture, pottery, jewelry, glass, wood and metal. The show is sponsored by the Grand Haven Area Arts Council and is free to the public. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Art on the Riverfront 2011 posters, featuring work by Wyoming artist Wayne VanderJagt, are now available to purchase at the Chamber of Commerce office, 1 S. Harbor Ave., and at the event. A silent auction of art donated by participating artists will also take place until 3 p.m. Proceeds of the auction and posters will support the art and cultural programming of the Grand Haven Area Arts Council.

Caricature artist Corinne Roberts will be at the show from noon to 5 p.m. and an awards ceremony will be held at 2 p.m.

This year’s juror Grand Haven resident and watercolorist Helen Lystra. She is a graduate of Grand Valley State University, writer at www.helenlystra.blogspot.com and the current director for the Gallery Uptown in downtown Grand Haven.  

The public will have a chance to vote for their favorite artist through the People’s Choice award.
